LAW FIRM OF TOM NEMAT, ORANGE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA

Estate Planning for People Who Have Built Something Worth Protecting.

You didn’t build what you have by accident, and your estate plan shouldn’t be an afterthought either. Tom Nemat works personally with a limited number of clients each year to build comprehensive trusts, business succession plans, and asset protection strategies. It’s the kind of attention larger firms reserve for their biggest accounts, delivered without the overhead, the hand-offs, or the hourly surprises.

Our Practice Areas

Estate planning

A properly built trust does more than avoid probate. It controls how, when, and to whom your wealth transfers, protects beneficiaries from creditors and their own poor decisions, and keeps your family’s affairs out of the public record. We design comprehensive estate plans for individuals and families with meaningful assets to protect.

trust admin & probate

When a loved one passes away or becomes incapacitated, someone has to step in and get it right. We guide trustees and executors through administration and probate with the precision the role demands, and the discretion your family deserves.

business planning

Your business is often your largest asset, and your hardest to protect. We structure entities, draft the agreements that hold ownership together, and build succession plans that keep what you’ve built intact, for you, your partners, and the next generation.

Meet Tom Nemat & How he can Help you

Tom Nemat has been recognized by Super Lawyers Magazine and spent years at one of the nation’s Top 100 estate planning firms, as ranked by Worth Magazine, before opening his own practice.

At the Law Firm of Tom Nemat, clients work directly with Tom, not a rotating team of associates, on trust and estate planning, trust administration and probate, asset protection, business, and real estate matters.

Tom holds a Bachelor of Science from the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley and a Juris Doctor from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles. He is also a licensed California real estate broker and holds California health, life, and property & casualty insurance licenses, giving clients a single point of contact who understands the full financial picture, not just the legal one.

Beyond the law, Tom is the founder and CEO of several healthcare companies based in Southern California, with virtual and telehealth services available throughout the state, and an active real estate investor. He doesn’t just advise business owners, he is one, which means he understands the risks and the pressure his clients are managing, because he’s managed them himself.

Tom is also a husband and father. Married since 2009 and raising three kids, he has built his own family’s estate plan and understands firsthand what it takes to protect and grow assets across every stage of life, while building in the right incentives to protect children from themselves, and from the world around them.

What to expect when you reach out

Every engagement starts the same way: a conversation, not a sales pitch. Here’s what to expect, depending on why you’re here.

  1. Discovery Consultation: A free conversation about your assets, your family, and your goals.
  2. Custom Plan & Flat Fee: A tailored plan recommendation and an all-inclusive flat-fee quote before any work begins.
  3. Draft, Review & Sign: We draft your documents, walk you through every provision in plain English, and finalize your plan. Most clients sign within about a month of their first consultation, sooner if their information is ready to go.
  1. Case Assessment: We review the trust or estate and explain what’s required, with a realistic timeline and cost, up front.
  2. Administration: We handle notices, asset marshaling, creditor claims, and filings, keeping you informed at every stage.
  3. Distribution & Closing: We complete distributions to beneficiaries and formally close the estate or trust.
  1. Business Assessment: We learn your structure, ownership, and goals to identify what protection or restructuring you need.
  2. Structuring & Drafting: We form entities and draft the agreements that protect them, including succession and buy-sell provisions.
  3. Implementation: We finalize your plan and integrate it with your personal estate plan, so nothing falls through the cracks. For business transactions, we stay involved for as long as the deal takes.

Common FAQ's

A will alone guarantees your estate goes through probate, a public, court-supervised process. A properly funded trust avoids probate entirely, keeps your affairs private, and gives you far more control over how and when assets are distributed.

Most estate plans are quoted as an all-inclusive flat fee after your initial consultation, based on the complexity of your assets and goals. You’ll know the cost before any work begins. No hourly billing.

It depends on the client, but if your information is ready to go, drafting typically takes about two weeks. Most clients complete the full process, from first consultation to signing, in about a month.
